Counseling Session Discussion

Clinical Supervision & Professional Consulting

Develop your clinical voice.
Deepen your expertise.
Build a career and practice that reflects where you’re going.

Great clinicians never stop developing.

At Mind Body Intimacy Studio, clinical supervision and professional consultation are designed for therapists and helping professionals who want more than a place to discuss cases. Our work is collaborative, challenging, practical, and centered on helping professionals become more confident in their clinical judgment, strengthen specialized skills, navigate complex cases, and intentionally build the next stage of their careers.

Whether you are working toward independent licensure, developing competency in sex and relationship therapy, growing a private practice, stepping into leadership, or simply want another experienced clinician at the table when the work gets complicated, consultation is tailored to your professional goals.

Services are available virtually and may also be available in person in the Chicagoland area.

Build the confidence to talk about what many clinicians were never trained to discuss.

Sexuality enters the therapy room whether clinicians feel prepared for it or not.

Dr. Ashford provides specialized consultation and supervision for clinicians seeking to deepen their competency in sexuality, intimacy, relationships, and sex therapy.

As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor-in-Training, Dr. Ashford provides eligible supervision and consultation for professionals pursuing advanced training and certification in sexuality-related fields, consistent with current AASECT requirements and supervision guidelines.

    • Sexual desire and desire discrepancies

    • Sexual functioning and sexual concerns

    • Intimacy and erotic connection

    • Sexual communication

    • Sexual shame and restrictive sexual messaging

    • Kink and BDSM

    • Consensual non-monogamy and polyamorous relationships

    • LGBTQIA+ sexuality and relationships

    • Sexual trauma and trauma-informed sex therapy

    • Couples experiencing sexual disconnection

    • Integrating sexuality into broader psychotherapy

    • Becoming more comfortable initiating conversations about sexuality

    • Ethical and culturally responsive sex therapy practice

The goal is not simply to teach clinicians what questions to ask. It is to help clinicians develop the clinical confidence, language, conceptual understanding, and therapeutic presence necessary to hold conversations about sexuality well.

INTERDISCIPLINARY CLINICAL CONSULTATION

Effective care sometimes requires collaboration beyond one treatment room.

With appropriate authorization and written client consent, Dr. Ashford is available to collaborate with therapists, physicians, pelvic health professionals, psychiatrists, and other medical and behavioral health providers regarding shared clients.

Consultation can help interdisciplinary teams better understand the interaction between psychological, relational, sexual, and medical factors and develop a more coordinated approach to treatment.

ABOUT DR. KRES ASHFORD

Dr. Kres Ashford, PsyD, LCPC, CST, brings approximately two decades of clinical experience to her supervision and consultation work.

Her professional background includes clinical practice in forensic and child-welfare settings, clinical leadership, supervision, program development, group practice, and more than a decade of private practice. Her specialty work focuses heavily on sexuality, intimacy, couples and relational therapy, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, kink/BDSM, attachment, and complex relationship dynamics.

Dr. Ashford’s approach to supervision is collaborative but active. Clinicians are encouraged to think critically, examine their clinical instincts, strengthen areas of uncertainty, and develop an authentic therapeutic identity rather than simply replicate another clinician’s approach.

The objective is simple: help good clinicians become exceptionally thoughtful, confident, and effective clinicians.
