Couples Intensives, Marathon Therapy & Retreats
Sometimes 50 minutes simply isn’t enough.
Traditional weekly couples therapy can be incredibly effective.
Traditional weekly couples therapy can be incredibly effective. But some conversations need more room. Some relationships need momentum. And sometimes couples want dedicated time to focus on their relationship without watching the clock just as they begin getting somewhere meaningful.
At Mind Body Intimacy Studio, we offer several extended formats for couples who want to step outside of traditional weekly therapy: Couples Intensives, Marathon Therapy, and Couples Retreat Experiences.
These experiences provide the time and space to slow down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and do focused relational work with intention.
Whether you’re trying to repair something that has been broken, find each other again after years of disconnection, strengthen an already healthy relationship, or intentionally create what’s next together, we’ll help determine which experience best fits your relationship.

Three Ways to Go Deeper

Intensives may be used as a stand-alone service, alongside ongoing couples therapy, or as a bridge into traditional couples therapy.
1.
COUPLES INTENSIVES
Focused therapy. More time. Deeper work.
Couples Intensives condense multiple hours of couples therapy into an extended therapeutic experience.
Instead of ending because the traditional therapy hour is over, we have time to explore patterns, understand what fuels them, practice new ways of engaging, and work through important issues while both partners are actively connected to the process.
Intensives can be particularly helpful for couples who want to:
-
Reconnect after emotional or physical distance
-
Address recurring conflict that never seems fully resolved
-
Repair trust after betrayal or significant relationship ruptures
-
Strengthen communication and emotional attunement
-
Explore sexual or intimacy concerns
-
Navigate major transitions or decisions
-
Prepare for marriage or long-term commitment
-
Better understand their relationship patterns
-
Strengthen an already healthy relationship
-
Make meaningful progress without waiting week after week
2.
MARATHON COUPLES THERAPY
When the relationship needs concentrated therapeutic attention.
Marathon Therapy is our most clinically focused extended format.
Designed for couples facing complex or deeply entrenched relationship concerns, marathon sessions allow us to spend sustained time understanding the cycle the relationship has become caught in—and begin interrupting it.
Rather than trying to address years of history in 50-minute increments, marathon therapy creates protected therapeutic space for assessment, insight, emotional processing, skill-building, repair, and practice.
This format may be appropriate when couples are navigating significant disconnection, betrayal, persistent high-conflict patterns, intimacy difficulties, major relational transitions, or other concerns that require more concentrated therapeutic work.
Marathon therapy is not about forcing a breakthrough in a weekend. It is about creating enough time for meaningful work to happen without unnecessarily rushing the process.
3.
COUPLES RETREAT EXPERIENCES
Not every relationship needs repair. Sometimes your relationship deserves investment.
Our Couples Retreat Experiences are designed for partners who want intentional time away from everyday responsibilities to focus on one another.
These experiences can incorporate guided relationship work, intimacy and connection exercises, meaningful conversations, play, rest, reflection, and opportunities to rediscover one another outside of daily routines.
Retreats may be especially meaningful for couples celebrating a milestone, entering a new chapter, recovering from a demanding season of life, wanting to prioritize intimacy, or simply saying:
“We’re ready to focus on us again.”
Unlike a traditional therapy intensive, retreat experiences can place greater emphasis on connection, exploration, pleasure, playfulness, and intentionally creating the relationship you want moving forward.
HOW DO WE KNOW WHICH ONE WE NEED?
You don’t have to know before contacting us.
Your initial consultation helps us understand what is happening in your relationship, what you hope will be different, and how much support you may need.
From there, we’ll recommend the format that makes the most clinical and practical sense.
Some couples need repair.
Some need clarity.
Some need new tools.
Some need to reconnect emotionally or sexually.
Some simply need uninterrupted time to remember why they chose one another.
Your experience should reflect your relationship, not a predetermined formula.

YOUR INTENSIVE EXPERIENCE

Start With a Complimentary Consultation
We offer a complimentary 15–30 minute consultation to help determine whether an intensive or marathon format is appropriate for your relationship.
You’ll have an opportunity to briefly share what’s bringing you in, learn about our approach, ask questions, and determine whether the experience feels like the right fit.
COMPREHENSIVE RELATIONSHIP ASSESSMENT
We don’t begin by assuming we already know what’s wrong.
-
Joint and individual conversations with your therapist
-
An online relationship assessment
-
Exploration of your relationship history
-
Communication and conflict patterns
-
Emotional and sexual intimacy
-
Friendship and connection
-
Trust and relational safety
-
Individual and family-of-origin experiences
-
Previous ruptures, losses, or significant transitions
-
Your individual and shared hopes for the relationship
-
This allows us to understand not only what is happening between you, but also why the pattern keeps happening.

YOUR RELATIONSHIP ROADMAP
Following assessment, we collaboratively identify the areas that deserve the most attention.
-
Your strengths and protective factors
-
Recurring relationship cycles
-
Areas of disconnection
-
Unmet or misunderstood needs
-
Individual experiences affecting the relationship
-
Opportunities for repair and growth
-
The priorities for our work together
-
Instead of trying to fix everything at once, we develop a focused roadmap for your experience.
THE HEART OF THE WORK
This is where insight becomes experience.
-
Strengthening communication and emotional attunement
-
Identifying and interrupting destructive cycles
-
Learning healthier approaches to conflict
-
Rebuilding friendship and emotional connection
-
Repairing trust after ruptures or betrayal
-

You won’t spend the entire experience simply talking about your relationship.
You’ll have opportunities to practice new ways of being in your relationship while we are together.

Our Clinical Approach
There is no single theory that explains every relationship.
Our work integrates evidence-informed and relational approaches, including The Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment-based therapy, systems theory, mindfulness, trauma-informed approaches, and sex therapy.
We pay attention to the relationship as a system while never losing sight of the two individual people inside of it.
That means exploring communication and conflict—but also attachment, identity, sexuality, family history, emotional regulation, culture, relational expectations, desire, friendship, and the experiences each partner carries into the relationship.
Flexible Formats
Relationships aren’t one-size-fits-all. Neither are our intensives.
Extended sessions begin at approximately 3.25 hours and may range through multi-day experiences of up to 2.25 days, depending on your goals and the recommended format.
Longer experiences may be scheduled over a single weekend or divided across consecutive weekends when clinically appropriate.
Weekend availability may include Saturdays and Sundays.
Specific recommendations are made following consultation and assessment.
After the Intensive
The work doesn’t simply end when the intensive does.
Before concluding, we’ll discuss recommendations for maintaining your progress and determine what support makes sense next.
That may include returning to your existing couples therapist, transitioning into ongoing therapy with Mind Body Intimacy Studio, scheduling periodic relationship check-ins, completing additional focused work, or continuing independently with tools developed during your experience.
Our goal isn’t to make you dependent on therapy.
It’s to help you leave understanding your relationship—and each other—differently.
Investment & Insurance
Couples Intensives and Marathon Therapy are specialized extended services and are generally paid out-of-pocket.
Insurance plans typically do not reimburse the full cost of extended couples therapy experiences. Depending on your individual plan and benefits, a limited portion of clinical services may qualify for reimbursement.
Because coverage varies significantly, we encourage clients to contact their insurance provider directly regarding out-of-network or couples therapy benefits. Mind Body Intimacy Studio cannot guarantee reimbursement.

YOUR RELATIONSHIP DESERVES MORE THAN CRISIS MANAGEMENT
You don’t have to wait until you’re considering ending your relationship to invest deeply in it.
Come because something hurts.
Come because something feels distant.
Come because something has changed.
Come because you’re preparing for what’s next.
Or come because you love what you’ve built and want to protect it.
Sometimes the most powerful thing a couple can do is intentionally choose each other again. ❤️
